๐ŸฅšBreeding Guide

Breeding is one of the most important features on PokeKingdoms! This guide will teach you everything about the Daycare system and how to breed competitive Pokemon.

๐ŸŽฏ What is Breeding?

Breeding allows you to:

  • Obtain eggs that hatch into new Pokemon

  • Pass down stats (IVs) from parent Pokemon

  • Pass down Natures

  • Pass down Egg Moves

  • Create competitive Pokemon for battles and trading

  • Earn money by selling bred Pokemon on STS

๐Ÿ  Using the Daycare

PokeKingdoms uses the CobbleDaycare mod for breeding!

Accessing the Daycare

/daycare

This opens the Daycare interface where you can manage breeding.

Daycare Interface

The Daycare window allows you to:

  • Place two compatible Pokemon for breeding

  • Monitor breeding progress

  • Retrieve eggs

  • Manage multiple breeding pairs (depending on configuration)

For detailed information about the CobbleDaycare mod, check out the official documentation!

๐Ÿ’‘ Breeding Compatibility

Egg Groups

Pokemon can only breed if they share at least one Egg Group:

Common Egg Groups:

  • Monster - Bulbasaur, Charmander, Tyranitar, etc.

  • Water 1 - Squirtle, Psyduck, Lapras, etc.

  • Field - Pikachu, Eevee, Growlithe, etc.

  • Fairy - Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Marill, etc.

  • Dragon - Dratini, Bagon, Gible, etc.

  • Bug - Caterpie, Scyther, Heracross, etc.

  • Flying - Pidgey, Spearow, Farfetch'd, etc.

Special Cases

Ditto

  • Ditto can breed with almost any Pokemon (except some legendaries)

  • Perfect for breeding when you only have one of a species

  • Does NOT pass down IVs as effectively as breeding two of the same species

Genderless Pokemon

  • Can only breed with Ditto

  • Examples: Magnemite, Porygon, Rotom

Legendary Pokemon

  • Most legendaries CANNOT breed

  • Some exceptions may apply (check in-game)

๐Ÿงฌ Breeding Mechanics

IVs (Individual Values)

IVs are hidden stats that determine your Pokemon's potential:

  • Range from 0-31 for each stat

  • Higher IVs = Stronger Pokemon

  • 6 Stats: HP, Attack, Defense, Sp. Attack, Sp. Defense, Speed

IV Inheritance:

  • Each baby Pokemon inherits 3 random IVs from its parents

  • The other 3 IVs are randomly generated

  • Use high IV parents for better offspring

Natures

Natures affect which stats grow faster:

Beneficial Natures (Examples):

  • Adamant - +Attack, -Sp. Attack (physical attackers)

  • Modest - +Sp. Attack, -Attack (special attackers)

  • Jolly - +Speed, -Sp. Attack (fast physical)

  • Timid - +Speed, -Attack (fast special)

  • Bold - +Defense, -Attack (physical walls)

  • Calm - +Sp. Defense, -Attack (special walls)

Nature Inheritance:

  • Give a parent an Everstone to pass down its nature 100%

  • Without Everstone, nature is random

Everstone is essential for breeding! Find it in caves or from mining.

Abilities

  • Babies have a chance to inherit the mother's ability

  • Hidden Abilities can be passed down if the parent has one

  • Breed with a Pokemon that has the desired ability

Egg Moves

Some moves can only be learned through breeding:

  • Father must know the move

  • Move must be in the baby's egg move list

  • Very useful for competitive movesets

๐Ÿ“Š Breeding for Competition

Step-by-Step Competitive Breeding

Goal: Breed a perfect Pokemon for battle or selling

Step 1: Choose Your Target

  • Decide which Pokemon you want to breed

  • Research its best nature and ability

  • Check what egg moves you want

Step 2: Catch/Obtain High IV Parents

  • Catch multiple Pokemon of the same species

  • Check their IVs (use an IV checker or judge feature)

  • Find Pokemon with 3+ perfect IVs (31)

Step 3: Set Up Your Breeding Pair

  • Use /daycare to access the interface

  • Place your two best Pokemon in the daycare

  • Give Everstone to the parent with the desired nature

  • Give Destiny Knot to either parent (if available - passes 5 IVs instead of 3!)

Step 4: Hatch and Check Eggs

  • Retrieve eggs from the daycare

  • Hatch eggs by walking/riding around

  • Check the baby's IVs and nature

  • Keep the best ones

Step 5: Rinse and Repeat

  • Replace parent with better offspring

  • Continue breeding until you get 5-6 perfect IVs

  • With patience, you'll get your perfect Pokemon!

๐ŸŽ’ Essential Breeding Items

Everstone

Breeding Business Tips

  1. Specialize - Focus on breeding a few popular Pokemon really well

  2. Market Research - Check /sts to see what's in demand

  3. Competitive Knowledge - Know which Pokemon are meta

  4. Bulk Breeding - Breed multiple at once for efficiency

  5. Advertisement - Let people know what you're breeding in chat

๐ŸŽ“ Advanced Breeding Techniques

Chain Breeding

  1. Breed Pokemon A (has desired move) with Pokemon B (target species, different egg group)

  2. Use the offspring to breed with Pokemon C (shares egg group with target)

  3. Finally breed with your actual target Pokemon

  4. Complex but necessary for certain egg moves

Hidden Ability Breeding

  • Catch Pokemon with Hidden Abilities in special encounters

  • Female parent has higher chance to pass Hidden Ability

  • Males can pass it when breeding with Ditto

Shiny Breeding

  • Some servers have shiny breeding mechanics

  • Breed massive quantities (hundreds of eggs)

  • Use Shiny Charm if available

  • Time-consuming but very rewarding

Multi-Species Operations

  • Breed multiple species simultaneously

  • Use /daycare to manage multiple pairs

  • Rotate based on demand and egg production
