Breeding Guide

Breeding is one of the most important features on PokeKingdoms! This guide will teach you everything about the Daycare system and how to breed competitive Pokemon.

🎯 What is Breeding?

Breeding allows you to:

  • Obtain eggs that hatch into new Pokemon

  • Pass down stats (IVs) from parent Pokemon

  • Pass down Natures

  • Pass down Egg Moves

  • Create competitive Pokemon for battles and trading

  • Earn money by selling bred Pokemon on STS

🏠 Using the Daycare

PokeKingdoms uses the CobbleDaycare mod for breeding!

Accessing the Daycare

/daycare

This opens the Daycare interface where you can manage breeding.

Daycare Interface

The Daycare window allows you to:

  • Place two compatible Pokemon for breeding

  • Monitor breeding progress

  • Retrieve eggs

  • Manage multiple breeding pairs (depending on configuration)

For detailed information about the CobbleDaycare mod, check out the official documentation!

💑 Breeding Compatibility

Egg Groups

Pokemon can only breed if they share at least one Egg Group:

Common Egg Groups:

  • Monster - Bulbasaur, Charmander, Tyranitar, etc.

  • Water 1 - Squirtle, Psyduck, Lapras, etc.

  • Field - Pikachu, Eevee, Growlithe, etc.

  • Fairy - Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Marill, etc.

  • Dragon - Dratini, Bagon, Gible, etc.

  • Bug - Caterpie, Scyther, Heracross, etc.

  • Flying - Pidgey, Spearow, Farfetch'd, etc.

Special Cases

Ditto

  • Ditto can breed with almost any Pokemon (except some legendaries)

  • Perfect for breeding when you only have one of a species

  • Does NOT pass down IVs as effectively as breeding two of the same species

Genderless Pokemon

  • Can only breed with Ditto

  • Examples: Magnemite, Porygon, Rotom

Legendary Pokemon

  • Most legendaries CANNOT breed

  • Some exceptions may apply (check in-game)

🧬 Breeding Mechanics

IVs (Individual Values)

IVs are hidden stats that determine your Pokemon's potential:

  • Range from 0-31 for each stat

  • Higher IVs = Stronger Pokemon

  • 6 Stats: HP, Attack, Defense, Sp. Attack, Sp. Defense, Speed

IV Inheritance:

  • Each baby Pokemon inherits 3 random IVs from its parents

  • The other 3 IVs are randomly generated

  • Use high IV parents for better offspring

Natures

Natures affect which stats grow faster:

Beneficial Natures (Examples):

  • Adamant - +Attack, -Sp. Attack (physical attackers)

  • Modest - +Sp. Attack, -Attack (special attackers)

  • Jolly - +Speed, -Sp. Attack (fast physical)

  • Timid - +Speed, -Attack (fast special)

  • Bold - +Defense, -Attack (physical walls)

  • Calm - +Sp. Defense, -Attack (special walls)

Nature Inheritance:

  • Give a parent an Everstone to pass down its nature 100%

  • Without Everstone, nature is random

Everstone is essential for breeding! Find it in caves or from mining.

Abilities

  • Babies have a chance to inherit the mother's ability

  • Hidden Abilities can be passed down if the parent has one

  • Breed with a Pokemon that has the desired ability

Egg Moves

Some moves can only be learned through breeding:

  • Father must know the move

  • Move must be in the baby's egg move list

  • Very useful for competitive movesets
